Torie had her "Jelly Test" today, and although she sat still and they had no problems obtaining it, she apparently didn't do as well as she has before. The tech said she wanted to compare it to her last echo, and that always means that they're tattling to some doc. So after a while a Cardiologist came in and told us that her left ventricular function (LVF) has decreased fairly significantly. Then she tattled to Dr. Orchard, and he invited us to the BMT Clinic to visit. Her weight is down to 15.7kg today, and they changed her Bumex to twice a day now. We also sent urine to see if she's going back into Nephrotic Syndrome. And then Dr. Orchard sent us down to EKG.
We go back to Clinic tomorrow so we'll hopefully get some answers then. It's hard to tell if Torie's LVF is decreased because of extra fluid that's due to her low Albumin, or if the extra fluid and low Albumin are because of Nephrotic Syndrome, or yada-yada-yada... you get the picture. So it's back on the roller coaster we go. Wait - have we ever gotten off? I don't remember anymore! But I'll be sure to update you when we know more about Mys-Torie!
Torie, we're thankful that you have so many people who love and care for you. We are hopeful that this next year will bring you to full recovery!
ReplyDeleteThanks for keeping us in the loop!

oh pricess mys-torie....you keep teaching us so much... about medicine & about life..you take a procedure (echo) & make it into a peanut butter & jelly sandwich...& that when you take a step backwards...just take a minute (or two) to catch your breath, and you'll be going forward again..or going up on the roller coaster...hang in there .....warm, positive thoughts your way kati
ReplyDeleteOh wow, the roller coaster continues.
